Marcus and Rachel know each other from Acadia University. As inclusive and experienced leaders, they believe in connecting people with the tools they need to excel. They also see the need to broaden the choices and goals that maritime students and emerging artists are offered.
Marcus Wong

Marcus Wong has been working professionally since 2018, bringing a wealth of experience in arts administration, education, and public policy. From 2020 to 2023, he served as Administrator and Program Officer at Theatre Nova Scotia, where he managed flagship education programs such as PERFORM! and the Nova Scotia High School Drama Festival. Collaborating with Tourism Nova Scotia, Marcus co-led the province-wide Summer Theatre Revitalization Campaign, supporting the recovery of the performing arts sector.
His tenure at Theatre Nova Scotia allowed him to engage deeply with the provincial artistic community, contributing to advocacy committees and leading initiatives that strengthened the sector at both macro and micro levels. This experience gave Marcus a nuanced understanding of the structure and needs of the maritime arts ecosystem.
Beyond administration, Marcus is an accomplished director and actor, having worked on productions in both Hong Kong and Canada. He studied at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts and holds an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Studies and History from Acadia University. Most recently, Marcus completed a Master’s in Public Administration at Queen’s University, equipping him with the policy and governance expertise to drive impactful change.
Rachel Leibovitz (any/all)

Rachel has been working in an incredible variety of jobs and places since 2012. During COVID, Rachel worked in schools as an educational assistant, often with special needs children. In 2023 Rachel worked and volunteered across four countries developing theatre workshops, engaging local communities, adapting biblical stories to the stage, teaching across cultures in foreign languages, and collaborating with international artists. Since early 2024 Rachel has been working in Germany as a full-time props person, and is now at Staatstheater Stuttgart.
Rachel’s Bachelors at Acadia University is a mix of training in theatre production, dramaturgy, and performance. She is currently looking into Master’s programs in Dramaturgy.
